



The coast to coast walk can be completed by a moderately fit person of any age, in fact we have found that the older person fares well due to a different outlook on life and better endurance. Below are three tests which will give you an idea of what you can achieve in a day, it’s not a scientific measure but will give you an idea.
On all of our courses we evaluate your fitness levels and suggest suitable training and discuss how you can best complete the route with your level of fitness.

If you can walk for 6 hours carrying a day pack then this is possible for you.
The difficulties for you will be walking for 2 weeks but if you plan well it is possible to walk yourself fit. We will provide you with some suitable suggestions to manage the route.
If you have completed multi day walks before and the idea of being on your feet for 8 hours is ok then this is for you.
We will provide you with guidance on suitable packs and what to carry.
If you have spent time in Scotland or the lakes walking and camping then this is an option.
Not as extreme as it appears, when you camp you can stop where you want and set off as early as you like. With smart kit selection this can be easier than you think.
